Executive Search

Executive search is considered by many as the ultimate form of senior personnel resourcing. At Auslink, we believe that recruitment by stealth is critical in meeting our client’s needs in a candidate short market and highly confidential environment. Auslink does not rely solely on a subjective network of contacts. We don’t rely on the best candidate on a data base when we can find the best candidate available in the entire market! We conduct a rigorous analysis of the particular market, ascertaining the participants and benchmarking them against their peers.

The best candidates always have options. To effectively “sell” our client to the candidate, it is crucial that we have an in depth understanding of our client’s structure and corporate culture.

A truly effective executive search is a long and painstaking process. Only when we are sure we have that in depth understanding do we consider we are equipped to commence the search. To act in haste is to invite a mismatch.

We start by compiling a list of “target” organisations and where possible a list of prospective candidates already known to our client. We then compile a list of known contacts within those organisations. These contacts are not necessarily target candidates, but people who can supply us with information relevant to the search. And most importantly, as part of this ongoing process, we then evaluate potential candidates against the selection criteria. A list of potential candidates is compiled and discussed in a meeting with our client. From that we shorten the list to only those candidates who our client believes best fit their requirements. Candidates who are mutually deemed suitable are then invited to an interview by Auslink.

A shortlist of suitable candidates is compiled and exhaustive reference checks are carried out. Those candidates who reference check suitably are then invited to attend an interview with the client, either at the client’s premises or for reasons of confidentiality, at Auslink’s boardroom.

If required, we will assist the client in remuneration negotiations with the candidate. Also if required, we will arrange thorough psychological and/or aptitude appraisals of the candidate on behalf of the client. We will also counsel the candidate in regard to resignation and preparation for any anticipated “counter offer.” Our primary objective at this stage is to conduct as smooth a transition for both client and candidate as possible. During the first few months of employment, we will maintain regular contact with both the client and the candidate and will be available should any issues arise.
